Cook&Eat: Lentil Soup

Lentil soup is a very popular dish in Bulgaria and it can be served in the lunch or dinner time. It’s a simple recipe with a few steps to follow, but before you begin, you need:

 

 

 

 

 

  • 1 teacup lentil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 pepper
  • 1 teaspoon savory
  • 5 tablespoons oil
  • 5 garlic cloves

These ingredients will be enough for 8 portions of lentil soup.
The first step is to prepare the lentil. You need to wash it, put it in a stewpan and pour it with cold water. Then you put in on the hot-plate. After the water boils, tip the lentil and wash it. Put it in the stewpan again, but this time add 1,5 l. water.

The next step is to wash, clean and chop the onion, the pepper, the garlic cloves, the carrot and add everything to the lentil. Add 2 tablespoons oil. Let the lentil boil. After that add 1 teaspoon salt and the chopped tomatoes. Heat up the oil, the red pepper, and the flour. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes. Add the mixture to the soup. The last step is to add the savory and let the lentil boil for a couple more minutes.
Then your soup is ready to be eaten.
